His 2001 Masters win has completed the Grand Slam feat for him, which he renamed as "Tiger Slam". In 2002 he continued to take his Masters win in back-to-back seasons. But 2003 and 2004 seasons deprived him of any major wins. But after initial ups and downs season Woods finally found his winning streaks in 2005 and went on to win six official money events on the PGA Tour plus two World Golf Championships.
On 3rd May 2006, Tiger's dad died after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. The death of his mentor, philosopher, friend, and guide had shattered Tiger completely. He took a nine-week long break from the PGA Tour to be with his family in their grief. When he returned to the game for his 2006 US Open his magic touch was missing. He missed his cut at the Winged Foot, and failed to qualify for the weekend at a major and thus ended his record-tying streak of 39 consecutive cuts made at major championships.
